Cuchi Tunnels

Jackfruit

Yesterday we went on a tour to the Cuchi Tunnels. For those of you who have never heard of these before, these tunnels were used in the Vietnam War for several miltary campaigns. They were used by Viet Cong guerrillas as hiding spots during battle, as well as serving as communication and supply routes, hospitals, food and weapon caches and living quarters for numerous guerrilla fighters. They are supposedly over 200 km long...

During the war, a lot of the enemies of the Vietnamese tried to get into the tunnels, because they were the Vietnamese's main way of communication and protection, so the Vietnamese set a lot of traps, some of them very painful.

On the tour we crawled through a model of one of the tunnels that they would have had to use, and towards the end it got smaller and smaller so that even I (being 4'11" and all) had to crouch down all the way, and the real tunnels would have been even smaller. I think that's saying something.
